Our story begins in Argentina, in the city of Mar del Plata, where we grew up as children of Belgian immigrants who settled there many years ago. Among their various activities, gastronomy always occupied an important place, and from them we inherited our deep love for Argentine cuisine and its authentic flavors.
About twenty years ago, we decided to return to our roots and settle in Belgium, a country that already felt like home. Since then we have been passionate about food, and our adventure began with making small empanadas for various restaurants. That first passion grew into a family project that took a big leap after the pandemic, when we made our first food truck launched, focused almost entirely on empanadas.
Success came quickly. Soon we needed a second, larger food truck, with which we participated in dozens of events: from Lions Boulevard in Waregem to Evening markets
along the entire coast, Ostend, Nieuwpoort, Koksijde, Bruges and many others. Without a doubt, the great success of the edition of Ghent Tastes 2025 helped us make the decision to open our first physical store.
And we chose a very special place: an exceptional corner in the heart of Ghent, the Friday Market. For those who visit the city, it is an iconic square, but for me it also has personal significance. When I first visited Ghent in 2007, I literally fell in love with it.
Our business is above all else a family business. We combine our gastronomic experience, mine and my wife's. Miriam with our daughter's talent Florencia, who has worked in various fast food restaurants and has a passion for patisserie, which she studied in Ghent and Oxford. We also count on the valuable help of our daughter. María Luz, who has worked in the fast food industry for many years, and on the essential contribution of our son Johan, a graduate of the prestigious Spermalie School in Bruges, which gives our recipes and dreams a professional touch, fully in accordance with the highest standards of processes and hygiene.
This is how Sabor a Buenos Aires: a blend of roots, family, tradition, and dreams that we are happy to share with everyone who walks through our door.
